Since being opened in 1995, Port Aventura has changed hands and is now owned by one single company. Visitors who are planning a holiday to Salou this year will find that the park has a lot of celebrations lined up to celebrate its 15 year anniversary. Firstly, for those who have a strong stomach and have no fear at all, the Dragon Khan is lying in wait to give you a fright! This stomach churning rollercoaster is the only one in Europe to have a dizzying eight loop-the-loops and travels up to 110 kilometres per hour. If you survive the Dragon Kahn experience intact, then your next challenge is to ride the Hurakan Condor in the Mexico area. This is a free-fall experience from 100 metres up and is the tallest ride in the theme park.

 Grab a taste of the old Wild West in the Far West area of the park. Here, there are some gentile rides such as the Grand Canyon Rapids – although you are likely to get very wet! If you then want to dry off, head to the Kon-Tiki Wave, a huge pirate boat ride situated in the Polynesia area of the theme park. Last but by no means least is the Furius Baco in the Mediterrania area of the park. If you think that the Dragon Kahn was adrenaline-pumping, you ain’t seen nothing yet. This rollercoaster requires you to hold on tight as you are catapulted around the track, reaching a speed of 135 kilometres an hour in a staggering 3 seconds!
