Edward Bass and the Hollywood Life

08.22.2011 · Posted in Recommended

Amid a flurry of runaway success and prospective challenges, Edward Bass had always tried to uphold a down-to-earth approach to his line of work. The accomplished producer, writer, and soon-to-be-director have experienced a life other can only dream of. Through his own efforts, he has become an established name in the industry, all within a breakneck period of time. Bass, however, shows no signs of slowing down even after his years of consistent success. He is still determined to leave his mark both on the big screen and in the entertainment industry in general.

Edward Bass is driven by a fervent passion for entertainment unlike anything people have ever seen. For much of his life, he had always been surrounded by stars, in some cases even developing close bonds with them. Bass’s personal history in itself is a treasure of interesting stories, from water-skiing lessons with Harry Belafonte to working on “A Night At The Improv” together with Dick Clark.

A recurring aspect of Bass’s life seems to be his fond memories of Old Hollywood. He still holds a soft spot for 1920s silent films and views Alfred Hitchcock as one of the finest filmmakers that ever lived. However, not even nostalgia can throw off Bass’s momentum as a creative force in the industry. He is not like other executive producers who are content with simply financing a project and letting the creative team do all the work. In contrast, Bass enjoys being a more hands-on producer who can back a project every step of the way, from the development phase to the box office. Bass will always have something to bring to the table, be it a truly inspired casting choice or a dash of thematic realism.

Edward Bass does not just extend his passion to producing films. He has also volunteered his own resources to a number of worthy causes. He has helped launch Born Warriors, a charity that raises funds for hand-capable individuals aspiring to be filmmakers. He has also helped spread awareness of the AIDS epidemic, endeavoring to eliminate the stigma and advance the search for a cure in AIDS research.
